Mitra's Ranch, Puerto Princesa, Palawan: Travel Guide + Itinerary + Budget

Rancho Santa Monica or known as Mitras Ranch is one of the all-time favorite visitor's spots in Puerto Princesa.  It's situated at Santa Monica Heights owned by Senator Ramon Mitra.  The bungalow-typed house atop the ranch provides a perfect spot of overlooking Puerto Princesa making visitors relax and just enjoy the view and nature. Open from 8 am to 6 pm.

HOW TO GET THERE

At the city proper, you may hire a tricycle for the CITY TOUR for 600 php.  Traveling in group would make it really less for each head. A tricyle can comfortably accommodate 3-4 people.

Before entering the house, you would notice slippers and shoes on the ground. Yeah, you can't wear footwear while in the bungalow. As soon as you enter, pay 20 php.  It used to be free but when we visited last June this year, this was already implemented.

The bungalow-typed house's flooring was sparkling, clean and well-waxed. It depicted a home and office of a senator. The receiving room (sala) was comfy.  What I liked the most, was the large frames of their family on the wall. I am not fond of politicians nor their life but mom said, senator Mitra was one of our handsomest senators. hahaha. Well, the picture can't lie. He has 6 sons and all are good-looking. Gemma said, their daugher, Laica was one of Abe's (Abraham, one of his sons, also served as governor of Palawan from 2010-2013) scholars. A table is in the center with gavel and books. At the back side, by the canteen, was a clean and spacious comfort room.

At the patio, was the canteen where you can buy beverages, ice creams, some candies, cupcakes and snacks.  There are large tables with benches where you can just relax and overlook the wide and green open field with the sea from afar of Puerto Princesa. So perfect for me!  It also has safety measures like fire extinguishers on the wall.

ACTIVITIES

1. Horseback riding for 200 php/15 minutes.  There are a lot of horses there.  Such a ranch trademark.

2. Ziplinging for 500.  The fun of zipling on top will definitely give you a thrill you're looking for once a while.

3. Bounce on the trampoline. FREE. Only for children.

4. Picnic.  Tables and chair are situated by the lower edge of the ranch for visitors just to relax and have some snack picnic.

5. Nature gazing.  Just sit back and let time stand still with nature.  Breathe fresh air and be renewed both in body and spirit.
