Bakers Hill, Puerto Princesa : Travel Guide + Itinerary + Budget

Once upon a time, it was a regular bakery. But with time and business management of the private owners, it has evolved into a beautiful themed park in Puerto Princesa which does not ask for any entrance fee. A very good landscape by Shirley made the homegrown bakery shop even more attractive. Bakers Hill is situated on a ridge (somewhat a hill) of Barangay Santa Monica. 

New establishments were added:
1. Baker's Kitchen - if you want to try the exotic Tamilok, visit here.
2. Pizza House - where you can eat freshly brick baked pizza.
3. Hula Shake - where you can enjoy frothy and sweet shakes.
4. Souvenir shops - if you want to bring home something from the place, visit souvenir shops for more options.
5. Snack bar - where we bought the gulaman for 25 php. They also have affordable snacks like sandwiches, pasta, desserts and drinks.
6. Wooden Floor View Deck - the highlight and for me the best spot of the park.

What is Bakers Hill known for?
1. Hopia (in pork or vegetable oil) - It comes in variety of baboy, monggo, and ube. Hopia baboy was 45 php/box, while monggo and ube was 50 php/box. Each box has 10 pcs of them.

2. Crinkles - the second best of Baker's Hill.
3. Ensaymada - soft and cheesy with butter on top.
4. Strawberry Crumbs - definitely a "must-try"
5. Pork Asado bun - a bun siopao version that is so tasty.
6. Cashew Nuts - so crunchy
7. Yema (langka flavor) - oh so sweet and "jackfruit tasting"
8. Dried Fish - a Filipino trademark, also one of Palawan's best.

Other sweets/baked pastries and delicacies like crinkles, mini-cupcakes, mamon, yema (langka flavor is heaven), etc. My friend Alyssa, who also went there loved their red velvet.

HOW TO GET THERE

Hire a tricycle in the city for 600 php City Tour.  It can comfortably accommodate 3-4 people.

What amazed me at the entrance was the tables and chairs with hearts hanging hearts and the purplish pompom on tops. It felt like Valentines Day then. The road was wide, clean and dry.

Told yah it's Valentines Day here...

We walked thru and was so renewed of the green and carefully landscaped garden. Awesome hanging plants on wooden posts made me feel like a queen. They are well-taken cared of from the looks of the fresh green leaves.

In the middle was the well-maintained and painted playground for kids.  Adults can sit by the available benches.  Of course Chesca and Hailey had the time of their lives.

A LOVE park was also nice. The huge or maybe 10 ft red lettering made it so vivid. You can actually sit in between and pose. The tiled ground was also clean and you can relax by the bench.

Different THEMED or Disney Character Statues can be seen like Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs, life-size tree house of 8 ft Shrek & Fiona with their babies and funny donkey, bald pirate with his sword, sexy Marilyn Monroe in her iconic red mini skit tube dress, anaconda, Siberian tiger, and maybe some more I was not able to document.

The highlight of the park was the "View Deck"  You will feel exhausted a bit climbing the stairs but when you reach the top, it's beyond awesome.  You are able to overlook the sea of Puerto Princesa.

It also has an "Aviary"  where a peacock shows off its beautiful tale. Too bad, it was sleeping that time.

Over-all, you will definitely get the feeling of LOVE and APPRECIATION.  It made me feel like I was abroad.
