Oceanpark, Hongkong : How We Commuted to Ocean Park

It was still so hot...pic c/o Ness See

Ocean park is the one of the world's largest largest oceanariums located at Wong Chuk Hang, southern district in Hongkong Island. It comprises 170 hilly acres overlooking the sea.  It was opened 30 years ago (June 10, 1977).
There are two major attraction areas - The Waterfront and The Summit.  These are connected by a 1.5 long cable ride, the world second largest outdoor escalator or the newly added Ocean Express Train.
It has variety and numerous restaurants and food kiosks, large choice of refreshments and snacks within premises so getting hungry is no problem at all.
There are also shops with exciting souvenirs and special gifts.

HOW TO GET THERE

Take the MRT Central Station. Look for MTR Exit K. Or if you're coming from any point in the city, look for MTR train station and take the Island Line trains then get off at Admiralty MTR Station Exit B.

ITINERARY
08:00 AM - 08:30 AM   :   ETD Best Western Hotel

08:30 AM - 09:00 AM   :   Took the Tram then Bus to Admiralty
OUR ROUTE:
"We TOOK THE TRAM first hoping to make it Central MTR station and from there to Causeway Bay Station to find Jardine’s Bazaar but a Filipina OFW told us to take the bus for Admiralty and there we can find the special Citybus CTB 629 but the tram prior to us collided. That’s too bad with tram. When two trams collide, all of the tram on route stops.

So, we dropped off, walked a little and stood in line at TOOK THE BUS to Admiralty West terminus instead.

We got lost looking for the bus. We even walked in Pacific One place Mall. I asked the Chinese female receptionist, with poor English and Andrei asked the guy in tuxedo, who spoke better English. His instruction made us find the way to the bus 269 station.Good heavens!!Being lost sometimes creates misunderstanding between people but we coped up with it easily - it happens. What an adventure!

the team just landed...marching 1, 2, 3...

Stay positive..passing thru One Pacific Mall...

This was the guy - good English skills for people needing directions
09:00 AM - 09:35 AM   :   ETA Bus Terminal/ETD to Ocean Park
"Finally, the bus was so nice. Big,good smelling and well-cushioned printed purple seats except for some foreigner passengers…my goodness, don’t they take a bath or wear deodorants at least? They were walking pollution.^^)"

09:30 AM - 09:55 AM   :   ETA Ocean Park/ Start Park Tour
"All of us were excited. The ride was so smooth and fast in 25 minutes.

That’s one of the things I love about Hongkong – NO TRAFFIC. Their transportation system is SUPERB.
*Their MTR is located in the subway.  *Their bus is point to point. *They have trams with ride all routes in the city. *Bus and tram use Octopus card for payment. Tram accepts cash to the last cent. That is why people there secure their cents well. It still has a value.

*Their taxis are also stopping on point and also affordable plus the drivers are honest and yes they speak good English.
**Above all, people are DISCIPLINED. They know where to take a ride. They also stand in line patiently. Whether they are wearing a branded watch or carrying a Gucci bag, they respect others."

10:00 AM   :   ETA Ocean Park, Hongkong
"We arrived safe and full of energy to start the day and have fun! The sun was so high, we kept squinching our eyes for the photo shoot. Isaiah got our map for the park so it would be easy to stroll. He's our go-getter-map-guy.
