Underground River, Puerto Princesa by Henri

Feb Quote of the month
The main important thing is that we are all having fun and that’s what life is all about”

In Finnish "pääasia on että meillä on kivaa ja siitähän elämässä on kyse"

On the 1st of February, Henri boarded Philippine Airlines going to PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN. Henri was excited to meet his friends there.  Their group would soon be completed –  Kimmo (his big brother), Esa, Samuel, Nikke, Juha, and Petterie.

Why do you like traveling with guys?  “Because guys are easier to go along with”

I guess that is true right?!   But SOME girls on the other hand are easy-going and cowboys too.

How about you? Are you a cowboy or classy type?  Do your friends like your company?  Or do you know any friend you wish to always go with because his/her company is amazing?

This is what Henri shared when their plane landed - “…but when we landed it was already soooooo beautiful…(in awe)”

Without a doubt, leaving behind almost everything would make the vacation perfect.  Just relaxing and enjoying the beach, the sun, the sand, the food, the no-pressure activities – just heaven, right?!   Well, that’s why it’s called vacation. Hahaha.  Like what Henri said
I have all the time but not just with my phone so much…”

They checked in at SHEEBANG hostel and Judy's resto at 118 Libis Road Barangay San Pedro Puerto Princesa City 5300.  It was $7 a night and the main building made in native ipil and narra wood. Accommodates two guests in two dorm rooms and four in private rooms.  Judy's resto and bar serves local and international food and drinks in the shadebof cogon grass and nipa.  The common space offers hang-out spots within the mango, avocado and wild palm-tree family-style garden. It's 10 minutes from airport. To go there by tricycle is P100.00

After eating brunch at 12:07 noon, Henri and his friends went to the beach around 2:37 in the afternoon.  Sun was high but hey the boys were pumped-up and ready for the first destination.  Besides Henri said “I wanna get tanned!!!”   That was with an exclamation…hahaha. I bet all foreigners like sun tanning while Asian especially Filipinos don’t.  Maybe because Filipinos, are naturally tan or brown.

For a slight change after winning the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu International Open, Henri dyed his hair (from blonde to black)…“I promise to myself that if I win something in the competition, I will color it”  Do you think black hair suits him?

That afternoon, their group went to SABANG for the UNDERGROUND RIVER  How amazing was that?  Henri said  “the river was coooool”

Underground river - small village in Palawan, an entry point to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River. Entrance fee is P250.00 and P40.00 environmental fee. These has to be paid at the office of the Sabang pier. Take the roughly 45 registered small and very noisy 8-seated bangka boats from Sabang river. Boat costs P100.00 per head.
Start of the Subterranean river (way to avoid paying/waiting for a boat) is an approximately 5 km walk thru the jungle which takes 1-2 hrs walk up to central station without a permit, but no further. You will see monkeys, monitor lizards and other wildlife. If not in rush, take this route back.  When you get to the entrance, you have to wait for another boat to take you to the underground river. Be sure to register and obtain your boat number. Nobody will call you when your boat is about to depart so be active and ask local staff. (Google)
