Bagyong Ulysses shocked the whole of RIZAL for the first time in an unexpected way. Yes, we have heard from PAG-ASA he's coming and that he travels 135 km/hr bringing in a lot of heavy rain fall and strong winds. News is so different from ACTUAL happening. Nov 11th marked that EVENT of a lifetime.
The whole evening of Nov 11th to the dawn of November 12th, Rizalians were bothered of the whopping, whooshing, whacking sound of the trees and roofs. I couldn't sleep because the trembling noise scared me. I know somewhere out there many people are screaming for help, scared, crying, agitated and helpless of their houses, cars and properties being drowned in flood. For two days our power line was cut. For about 30 minutes, the water was out. Good thing mom was ready with emergency light. My laptops were fully charged and we charged at my car, Cia. Much more, before Uly came, we were able to stock mineral water, candles, and some groceries like rice, canned goods and noodles.
As of an hour ago, according to Rappler, "he wiped out at least 2.5 Billion of our agriculture. 73,000 farmers and fisherfolks, over 75 hectares of agricultural areas had production loss at 109,000 metric tons. Good thing the Department of Agriculture said farmers can avail of seeds, drugs for livestocks for zero-percent interest loans."
Here in Rizal, affected areas are Centella Subdivision, East Meridian, ER, Suave, Kasiglahan Village, some parts in Eastwood, Eastwind, East Bellevue. Of course the main roads and bridges. Ph 1 Eastwood, where I live did not flood but the main road was. Although the flood went high so quickly, it also subsided quickly.
According to R. Lagumbay III, "The upstream river of Montalban is not connected to Angat. Angat's water flows to Norzagaray river. While Marikina river gets it's water from Sitio Quinao at the mountains of Sierra Madre bordering Gen. Nakar and the other river tributary is coming from Boso Boso, Antipolo. I know these places because I myself made a survey of these areas before. It is denuded of forest trees kasi ginagawang uling ng mga taga roon. Plus you add the mines and quarry sites at Sitio Tabak, San Rafael that adds siltation to the river bed then you will have a formula of flood waters gushing out of the mountains because there are no more trees and plants to absorb rain water. It is not because of Angat dam. The only dam near Montalban is Wawa dam which is no longer functioning." - from my fb comment.
I have friends in Centella Subdivision whose houses were flooded until thigh-high. Cars, house furnitures, house appliances, gadgets, supplies and records were devastated. Here are some photos from my very good friend AJ. He was at Bataan that time but drove back the next day to check his house.

Another one was my brother's ex-house. They used to live there. Good thing, they moved-out and transferred to a higher subdivision.

During this time, a lot of people helped in donating their goods, supplies and time to rescue people affected by the typhoon. I am happy to mention these people who helped in packing and driving around to distribute the goods and supplies.
Dantes and Family, Curammeng Family, Spencer and Mutuc brothers, Santa Molina and Family, Nass Keil and Family, Ela Morcillo and his Grade V-Narra Students, Mae Anicete Nelson and company, Rhea Marcellana and Family, Esther Concepcion, Marianne Agustin, and Lorena Cotto. God bless your good heart.
Special thank you Kagawad Labez who was prompt to act on our critical issue, to my mom who took the video while the barangay was cutting the fallen tree and my co-parent Chelle Bajet and hubby who took the videos at the bridge going to Luvers.
